Summary
The Role of the Data and Test Automation Engineer is to design, develop and maintain automation frameworks and develop solutions for effective and efficient test execution for various types of applications. To fulfill this role incumbents will apply appropriate test automation technologies to meet the short-term and long-term goals of the testing organization. A basic understanding of different technologies is required for a Data and Test Automation Engineer; as well as a growing willingness to learn new tools and technologies, solve problems related to the use and implementation of automation tools, as well as provide comprehensive reports and deliverables summarizing all automation test findings and results.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Level I• Works to remain an active learner in all automation technologies related to software and web applications testing.• Actively engages with cross-functional teams across various disciplines (Facets, Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.).• Manages the day-to-day operations of the automation tools, frameworks and execution of test scripts and suites.• Analyzes, identifies and implements regression testing, automated testing and data technical improvements to ensure business users receive appropriate levels of service and performance.• Works closely with business analysts, solution architects and project managers to define operational requirements, resource impacts, estimates, dependencies and project plans.• Works closely with Quality Leads, Project Managers and Test Engineers to educate on process and submitting requests for new databases, schemas, migrations, etc.• Participates in peer reviews and on project teams to ensure automation quality standards.• Supports the creation of manufactured data in multiple test environments for all levels of development and testing.• Follows defect tracking processes using the defect tracking tool.• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and Leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.• Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Level II (in addition to Level I responsibilities):• Identifies opportunities to drive and contribute beyond team commitments.• Develops and improves standards and processes as required to increase the efficiency of requirements, design, development, testing, load, and deployment activities.• Interfaces with Tool Administration and Oracle DBAs for coordination and planning in support of project and monthly release activities.• Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives and gathers automation requirements.


• Provides level 1 triage for issues found by automated testing.

• Designs scalable test automation solutions• Partners with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity.• Actively participates in all team and project meetings, actively contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.• Participates in automation script code reviews and provide high-level guidance on their compliance with automation best practices.• Follows automation test engineering best practices, test strategy and principles.• Coordinates various test-related activities for project delivery; identifying task dependencies, test schedules, creation of test data and utilization of test environments.

Level III (in addition to Level I & Level II responsibilities):• Takes ownership of testing processes and implements them.• Mentors junior members of the team.• Leads and takes ownership of automated testing processes and implements them.• Collaborates to improve software and mobile app testing processes, tools, and methodology.• Develops high quality automation test engineering best practices, test strategy and principles.• Assesses risk for large critical projects and determines appropriate levels of testing.• Mentors and helps direct junior members of the team.• Develops and monitors performance test metrics and provide timely communication to key stakeholders on a regular basis.• Closely monitors industry trends and progress in the application and mobile automation tool space, develops proof of concepts as need to validate the potential impact to our test delivery process.• Influences and collaborates with other senior members of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or two additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors).• Database knowledge/experience.• Object oriented programming experience.• Experience with data modeling tools and techniques.• Experience writing and working with SQL queries.• Knowledge of test plans, test cases, procedures, and test scripts.• Knowledge of SDP methodology and deliverables, or equivalent project management methodology.• Insightful and logical problem isolation and solving skills.• Results driven and goal-oriented.• Ability to perform in a very focused and methodical manner with good time management/multi-tasking skills.• Able to independently adapt and thrive through change.• Understands testing processes and how to implement them.• Basic understanding of software and mobile app testing processes, tools, and methodology.• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct.• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.• Regular reliable attendance is expected and required.• Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Level II (in addition to Level I requirements):• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors).• Three years related work experience.• One year of Data experience.• One year of Automated Test experience.• Experience which includes test automation scripting in Open Source and/or Commercial automation tools.• IIST certification preferred.• Experience in increasing automated test coverage over time.• Familiarity with Health care processes and procedures including Enrollment, Billing, Rates, Claims, Referrals and Ba tch processing.• Preferred experience with the Trizetto Facets application.• Experience writing and working with PL/SQL queries and testing SOAP and RESTful web services.• Familiarity with source control mechanisms (IE: HP ALM, etc.).• Proven record of training testers without prior automation experience to use automated tools and frameworks.• Solid understanding of how to manufacture and manage test data in a development environment.• Experience working with iterative, waterfall, and agile methodologies.• Knowledge of testing mainframe, distributed, open systems, or web applications.• Understanding of application and infrastructure components (hardware & software).• Strong understanding of Object Oriented concepts.• Experience in database management and server administration.• Experience with data modeling concepts.• Experience with distributed systems concepts.• Basic understanding of automation framework concepts and automation best practices.• Experience with project management methodologies including agile methodologies.

Level III (in addition to Level I & Level 2 requirements):• Six years related work experience.• Two years of experience that includes strong test automation scripting in both Open Source and Commercial automation tools.• Two years of experience in developing in an object oriented based test automation framework.• Proficient with software and mobile app testing processes, tools, and methodology.• Experience assessing risk for smaller, less critical projects and determining appropriate levels of testing.• Experience with project management methodologies including agile methodologies and supporting techniques (e.g. Test Driven Development and continuous integration processes), packaged system implementations, and traditional specification-driven approaches.• Strong knowledge of automation framework concepts and automation best practices.• Ability to participate on projects individually.

Physical Requirements• Ability to travel across regions.• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
