The Technology Storage Services Team enables the firm to maximize the ability to generate value through its data in a structured, consistent, and scalable manner while providing the highest level of availability and performance. The data protection specialist role works within the framework of the firm's data governance, storage, and security policies, ensuring our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle, as a firm asset. The Data Protection Specialist partners with other areas across the firm to ensure data is created, managed, and effectively utilized as an enterprise asset - which leads to understood, controlled and secure data.
The specific responsibilities include:
  • Serve as the primary storage services representative responsible for the clear definitions and policies regarding data storage management, security and protection.
  • Leverage data protection tools and platforms (backup, archive, replication) to establish protection mechanisms to ensure data availability and redundancy. Lead the storage services team in maintaining data quality and integrity regardless of data location.
  • Serve as a primary contact responsible for identification and definition of data protection standards in response to requests and partner with technology teams to ensure valid and controlled storage of required data
  • Oversee data lifecycle standards including operational and administrative management of data as it pertains to primary, secondary, cloud and archive data tiering
  • Provide processes and metrics on data protection efforts including monitoring, alerting, posting of data protection results.
  • Analyze storage systems to identify data that does not align with standards and recommend corrective actions
  • Implement, enforce, and demonstrate strong understanding of data standards and policies as it pertains to data storage protection
  • Liaison with regulatory and compliance teams to discuss any impact from regulatory landscape changes
  • Provide recommendations as to the effective use of new technology for the firm while proactively seeking technical improvements to the current environment

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education & experience is required with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS strongly preferred.
  • 3 years experience in data protection, data management, and data security
  • Experience related to Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and/or technical area of expertise preferred
  • 6+ years experience in data storage support technologies:NetApp, Pure and Cloud (Azure/AWS) configurations a plus
