Data Automation Engineer
Job Description
New hires in office-based roles in the U.S. & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. As a team member within the Data Movement & Storage product team you and your team members will have day to day responsibility for our research data. You will develop strategies for capturing, moving and storing data generated internally and externally. You will develop and employ automation strategies where applicable and provide innovating solutions to our most pressing data problems. You will be accountable for data compliance, security, and availability for our scientists and downstream analytics.

Primary Tasks:
- Integrating instruments into our Tetrasciences platform for automated data movement
- Identify data services automation opportunities and implement as appropriate
- Managing data storage platforms and user interfaces for their utilization
- Managing Electronic Official File systems, their lifecycle and support contracts
- Solving data problems for scientists
- Ensuring data lifecycle and compliance
- Define goals and success with clearly measurable objectives and key results
Education Minimum:
- H.S. Diploma with 12+ years of relevant experience
- Preferred: B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or closely related discipline i.e. Electrical Engineering, Life sciences analytics or closely related discipline, Bioinformatics, or a 2 year degree with 10+ years hands-on demonstrable experience in enterprise IT, high performance computing or scientific data management and acquisition.
Prerequisites:
- Worked with data movement and storage patterns
- Direct attached and network attached storage systems
- Data interfaces and related network interface protocols, i.e. TCP/IP, CIFS/SMB, NFS, etc.
- Strategic business comprehension and vision and the ability to translate strategy into tactical execution
- Data acquisition, instrument interfaces, device connectivity or equivalent experience
- 3+ years related experience; scientific programming experience and skill with use of languages such as (Python, C/C++, C#, .NET, Java, Perl)
Preferred:
- Has worked in an operational data center or with large data storage systems, including cloud patterns
- Programming and development in Unix/Linux environment
- Laboratory and instrumentation automation
- Small Board Computer Systems & I/O interfaces
- Solid comprehension of FAIR and ALCOA principles
- Data analysis and visualization
