Job Overview

The Clinical Engineer supports the construction and clinical testing of a unique cardiovascular monitoring system, and future IoT medical products. This role helps define, execute, and document device testing with human subjects, and will provide technical support to external partners using Casana technologies. The Clinical Engineer provides strong technical skills, exceptional attention to detail, passion for technology innovation, and determination to meet the needs of the Clinical Study team. The successful candidate will be a clear communicator, able to work independently, thrive in a startup environment, and be open to taking on new responsibilities. This position is based in Rochester, NY.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute test methods and protocols for benchtop and human subjects testing of Casana technologies.
• Document test procedures and test results.
• Provide technical and general support as needed to external partners using Casana technologies, some travel required.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, developers, designers, and clinicians.
• Utilize engineering principles, statistics, mathematics, and other quantitative and qualitative methods to support research and development of medical devices.
• Support medical device design verification & validation testing.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.

Required Skills and Experience

• BS in biomedical engineering or related field.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to seamlessly integrate theory with empirical data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with individuals across a broad spectrum of expertise.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to be a brand ambassador for Casana with external stakeholders.
• Exceptional attention to detail in calculations, hands-on experimentation, and documentation.
• Active learner with the ability to rapidly become proficient with a broad range of hardware and software technologies.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Proficient with Python or similar language.
• Familiar with programming embedded systems such as Arduino / Raspberry Pi
• Experience generating technical specifications, technical reports, and test procedures.
• Experience with human subjects testing.
• Other duties as required.
