Job Summary
Responsible for leading all engineering efforts for a complex project or projects on time and budget. Ensure design compliance with all project requirements and the DRS Design and Development Process. Project teams are cross functional, representing electrical, mechanical, software and test engineering. The PE will be responsible for the planning and execution for all engineering team activities and will be the primary engineering interface to other departments internal to DRS and the customer as required during the project.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading all engineering efforts for a complex project or projects on time and budget
- Ensure design compliance with all project requirements
- Ensure compliance to the DRS Design and Development Process
- Ability to independently lead a cross functional team of engineers
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Develop cost and schedule input for design assignments and new bids and proposals
- Communicate clearly (both written and oral)
- Interface with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
- Interface with technical management, and support personnel to coordinate, technical activities and track team progress
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience (minimum of 5 years in an engineering team leadership or project management role)
- General knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines enough to lead engineers on the project team
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed properly and on time
- Ability to adapt to changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities
- Solid PC skills in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Windows, etc.
- Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
- Desired Qualifications
- MS in engineering or MBA is a plus
- Experience with DoD programs
