Job Responsibilities:
Magna Steyr is looking for a talented team member with experience in overall vehicle design. This would be a passionate individual interested in being involved in developing the next level industry standard for vehicle architecture and production solutions. The position will be responsible to support the Senior Engineering lead positions within the Magna Steyr North American vehicle engineering activity with a focus on overseeing and coordinating vehicle architecture and its associated packaging requirements. This position will lead the global program activity to ensure proper system, sub-system, and component alignments and spatial relationships are defined and maintained through all product development phases (i.e., concept, production design and engineering, product release, manufacturing and assembly, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Responsibility
- Contribute to the Technical Area strategy and growth by supporting the Lead Engineering roles and the whole engineering team in areas such as:
- Investigate and create different package proposals, lead discussions towards an aligned proposal.
- Align the input of stakeholders on these proposals
- Align the requirements between Design, Production and Engineering to deliver the iconic design of the two products
- Develop and drive concept designs and its cross functional integration (Platform and top hat)
- Provide decision matrixes on different systems and possible solutions
- Provide documentation on all investigations either in CAD and/or PowerPoint as decision matrix
- Create and Provide CAD models for later reference.
- Create and align master sections
- Design evaluations and documentation
- DMU-data management and virtual car release
- checking data completeness against BOM and feature List
- Geometry checks/ release reg. Clash, min. distances
- Generate and release geometrical Validation criteria divided in vehicle systems (dynamic package requirements)
- Perform static and dynamic interface checks on vehicle systems problem resolution metrics
- Support and Contribute to Knowledge Base of Internal and External Best Practices
- Stay Current with Industry Standards and Practices and Identify Potential areas of Continuous Improvement to the Team and Group Leads
- Maintain Regular and Consistent Attendance
Qualifications:

Education / Experience:
- 5 to 10 years' relevant experience in Design with an emphasis on full vehicle architecture and full vehicle system concept development
- Education- bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent Preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Expert Level Proficiency in CAD based applications (CATIA)
- Experience with 3DX preferred
- Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience with overall vehicle layout and geometrical integration
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer
- May require local, domestic and international travel - less than 15% domestic + international
