Your Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training to join our team in the Twin Cities Metro area. This role will focus on supporting design projects related to transportation infrastructure on our urban mobility team. The successful candidate will have a passion for urban transportation; multi-modal corridors, traffic calming, transit, and creating safe roadways for all., You will perform engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out related civil engineering tasks such as preparation of plans, designs, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications in accordance with established codes and standards.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a lead engineer, assist with the preparation of construction plans, layouts, exhibits, estimates, specifications, and other deliverables for urban mobility projects.
- Prepare project designs and deliverables in compliance with documented commitments, standards, and quality assurance practices.
- Work within design team while cognizant of project scopes, schedules, budgets.
- Follow all in-house procedures related to documentation of designs and process flow.
- Attend and document project/client meetings with agenda and/or notes/minutes.
- Use knowledge of general concepts of engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects that focus on transportation systems such as multi-modal corridors, streets, bikeways, and trails.
- Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.
- Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
- Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
- Perform field work related to construction activities as required (up to 40% field work during peak seasons).
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, OneNote, and OneDrive.
- Proficient with Bentley Microstation and Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Ability to work in groups or alone.
- Good communication skills, attentiveness to detail, and multi-tasking ability.
- Willingness to learn new skills and interface with multiple project managers.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering with emphasis in Civil or Transportation, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 0-5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Engineer-in-Training designation.
