JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The PSA (Probabilistic Safety Assessment) and DSA (Deterministic Safety Analysis) Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our nuclear power plant. This position requires a deep understanding of nuclear safety principles, as well as expertise in performing probabilistic and deterministic analyses. The engineer will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing safety models, and providing technical support for safety-related activities.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct probabilistic safety assessments (PSAs) to quantify risks associated with various plant operations and events.
- Perform deterministic safety analyses (DSAs) to evaluate the behavior of the plant under specific accident conditions.
- Develop, update, and maintain safety models, including fault trees, event trees, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to incorporate safety considerations into plant design, modifications, and upgrades.
- Support the licensing process by providing technical documentation and analysis for regulatory submissions.
- Participate in safety reviews, audits, and inspections conducted by internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in nuclear safety.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline / physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Engineer / Technical Specialist level.) Desired: M.S. Degree in Engineering.
Minimum experience required of the position
All experience levels considered. Nuclear Power Plant PRA/PSA specific experience preferred.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Good to excellent communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments. Experience/proficiency in PC use and applications, depending upon engineering level. Experience in Saphire, CAFTA, and Phoenix software desired.
Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position
Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR; Professional Engineering license.
