About the Role
We are looking for an AI Innovation Engineer to join A-Lab, Harman Consumer Audio Engineering’s advanced technology and innovation team.
This role focuses on building AI-powered internal tools, agentic workflows, and automation systems that improve how engineering, innovation, product, and business teams work. The candidate will write code, use AI-assisted development tools, and turn emerging AI capabilities into practical software solutions.
We value practical building experience more than formal credentials alone. Candidates are expected to show real projects they have built, such as AI agents, workflow automation tools, LLM applications, internal tools, data-analysis assistants, or personal AI projects. Fresh graduates or early-career candidates are welcome if they can demonstrate strong hands-on capability, fast learning ability, and a builder mindset.
Your Team
You will join A-Lab, a forward-looking innovation team within Consumer Audio Engineering. A-Lab explores new technologies, builds proof-of-concepts, validates future opportunities, and supports selected innovations toward real adoption.
The team works across audio, acoustics, AI, software, algorithms, user experience, and rapid prototyping. Projects may relate to Soundbars, Portable Speakers, Headphones, One App, connected experiences, internal tools, and broader digital innovation opportunities.
What You Will Do
- Build AI-powered internal tools, agentic workflows, and automation systems that improve engineering, innovation, product, data, and business processes
- Design, develop, test, and deploy AI applications using Python, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, automation pipelines, AI-assisted coding tools, and lightweight user interfaces
- Create AI agents for knowledge retrieval, document generation, workflow automation, data analysis, research assistance, requirement drafting, and test-case generation
- Work with A-Lab teammates and cross-functional stakeholders to identify workflow pain points, validate use cases, improve reliability through feedback loops, and turn ideas into working tools
What You Need to Be Successful
- Strong hands-on coding capability, especially in Python, with experience using Git, APIs, testing, debugging, and basic deployment environments
- Practical experience building AI-agent applications, LLM-based tools, workflow automation systems, or AI-powered internal tools
- Ability to show real work you have built, such as a portfolio, demo, GitHub repository, prototype, hackathon project, open-source contribution, or personal AI project
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, function calling, tool use, RAG, agent frameworks, orchestration methods, and AI-assisted coding tools
- Understanding of how to evaluate and improve AI systems, including test harnesses, feedback loops, failure analysis, reliability, privacy, maintainability, and user trust
- Strong curiosity, fast learning ability, builder mindset, and good collaboration skills across different technical backgrounds
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related technical field is preferred; strong practical project experience will also be considered
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with LLM / agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI API, Claude API, Gemini API, or similar tools
- Experience building internal productivity tools, knowledge assistants, workflow copilots, dashboards, automation bots, data-analysis agents, or enterprise RAG systems
- Experience with lightweight frontend, databases, vector databases, cloud deployment, Docker, CI/CD, telemetry, BI tools, or product analytics
- Personal AI projects, hackathon projects, open-source projects, startup experience, or internal innovation experience
- Interest in audio, music, entertainment technology, consumer electronics, or creative tools, with good product sense for identifying real workflow pain points
