The pay range is $73,200.00 - $131,700.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. As a Engineer on our Edge Switching team, you will help evolve the Switching across all of Stores, Distribution Centers, and Headquarters locations. The Edge Switching platform is the critical infrastructure that is essential to help Target deliver on its purpose “To help all families discover the joy of everyday life.” We are the path-ways that connect our Target Guest and over 350,000 Team Members to our Target Tech delivered Services and Applications. This team is building the network of the future at Target through adopting open source operating systems and further developing them to meet Target’s needs.

As a Engineer on the Network – Edge Switching team you will:

Be a key contributor to designing, building, and deploying the Switching Fabrics at Target. You will partner with other engineers to ensure we build quality products. You will use your talents to help improve the efficiency of our Switching Fabrics through automation. You will help build tools to operate our fleet of switches.

Technology:

• Software Development in Python

• Switching Operating Systems: Cumulus, SONiC, Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS

• Network Fundamentals: TCP/IP, IP addressing

• Metrics visualization with tools like Grafana

ABOUT YOU:

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience
• 1+ years of Networking Experience

• Demonstrates knowledge of Network Switching such as IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching
• Demonstrates knowledge foundational Network Concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS

• Experience with programming languages in either python, java, or go

• Demonstrate some proficiency with Linux Operating Systems

• Understands the concepts of network design and architecture.

• Demonstrate strong Written and Verbal communication skills

• Resolves routine technical issues with some assistance
• Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
• Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

Preferred:

• Understands the concepts of network design and architecture.

• Understands utilizing CI/CD technologies (Git,Jenkins/Drone)

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
