Engineer II, Test Engineering – Product Development
Position Summary
The Engineer II, Test Engineering – Product Development is responsible for developing and implementing test solutions for semiconductor products for data center power throughout the product development lifecycle. This role designs automated test programs, hardware, and validation methodologies to ensure product performance, quality, and manufacturability.
Working with moderate supervision, the engineer collaborates closely with design, product, systems, applications, and manufacturing teams to develop robust test solutions and drive successful product releases.
Key Responsibilities
Test Solution Development
- Design, develop, and validate test plans, test programs, and hardware for new semiconductor products.
- Create automated production and characterization test solutions on ATE platforms.
- Develop efficient and scalable test methodologies to support product development and manufacturing.
Test Hardware Design
- Design evaluation boards, load boards, interface hardware, and supporting circuits.
- Develop and debug test fixtures used for product validation and production testing.
- Coordinate PCB fabrication, assembly, and qualification activities.
Product Characterization & Validation
- Execute characterization and correlation activities to verify product performance.
- Analyze electrical parameters across operating conditions and manufacturing variations.
- Support qualification testing and product release activities.
Design-for-Test Collaboration
- Partner with IC design engineers to improve testability through Design-for-Test (DfT), Built-In Self-Test (BIST), and related techniques.
- Review product architectures and specifications to optimize test coverage and cost.
Data Analysis & Problem Solving
- Analyze test results to identify trends, yield excursions, and product performance issues.
- Debug hardware, software, and silicon-related failures using systematic root cause analysis.
- Drive corrective actions to improve product quality and test efficiency.
Process & Quality Improvement
- Develop and maintain test documentation, procedures, and engineering standards.
- Improve test coverage, test time, and hardware reliability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across product development and manufacturing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with global engineering teams across design, applications, product engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
- Participate in technical reviews and project milestone planning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in test engineering, product engineering, semiconductor development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuits and semiconductor fundamentals.
- Experience with programming and software development for automation or testing.
- Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as:
- Oscilloscopes
- Digital Multimeters
- Power Supplies
- Signal Generators
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor ATE platforms such as:
- Teradyne MicroFlex
- SPEA
- Advantest
- Experience developing automated test programs.
- Knowledge of power management or mixed-signal IC testing.
- Experience with PCB design tools and board development.
- Familiarity with:
- Python
- C/C++
- VBA
- Lab automation frameworks
- Strong English communication skills.
- Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
