Engineer I

The Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Essential Job Functions:

Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and workforce utilization. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Lead efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput to achieve and sustain 95% OTD through the use of deployment and strategic business growth. Promote and facilitate shop floor workflow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities. Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs, entering data. Maintains and complies with government product regulations.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
