Performs mechanical engineering and design activities for power plant upgrades and new projects under senior staff supervision. Assists with engineering calculations, equipment evaluations, design modifications, and project-team activities that improve plant performance, safety, and reliability. The role requires field work at nuclear and industrial plant sites, including equipment walkdowns, confined spaces, ladders, and controlled areas. Travel, overtime, security screening, drug screening, and nuclear plant access requirements apply.

Engineer I, Mechanical will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff. Engineer I, Mechanical should have working knowledge of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Engineer I, Mechanical will assist with performing calculations, modifications, and designs. Engineer I, Mechanical must possess technical knowledge of mechanical discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist in evaluating conditions and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
 

Responsibilities

Education Required (minimum): BS in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university
Experience Required (minimum): Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for application in solving problems.

Qualifications

Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Overtime work is required at times. Travel is required to client sites with periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.
