Overview of the Role
As an Associate Engineer - DevOps, you will support the DevOps team in managing application infrastructure, deployments, automation, and day-to-day cloud operations. You will be responsible for defined technical tasks, troubleshoot issues, and maintain development, testing, and production environments.
This role is suited for someone looking to build hands-on experience in AWS, CI/CD, Linux, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code, while developing an understanding of DevOps practices, automation standards, security, and operational processes.
Job Responsibilities
•Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of AWS resources such as EC2, S3, VPC, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
•Assist in monitoring AWS infrastructure and applications and escalate issues to senior team members when required.
•Support application deployments across different environments using established CI/CD pipelines.
•Work with tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS CodePipeline, and CodeDeploy under defined processes and guidance.
•Write and maintain basic Shell/Bash or Python scripts to automate repetitive operational tasks.
•Assist with provisioning and managing infrastructure using Terraform and follow established Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
•Support configuration and provisioning activities using tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
•Perform basic troubleshooting of deployment, configuration, connectivity, and application environment issues.
•Support Unix/Linux environments, including basic system configuration, application setup, log analysis, and routine maintenance.
•Assist with monitoring, log analysis, and identifying potential infrastructure or application issues.
•Follow defined security, networking, compliance, and operational standards, including practices applicable to HIPAA-regulated environments.
•Maintain technical documentation related to infrastructure, deployments, and operational procedures.
•Collaborate with DevOps, Development, QA, and other project teams to support smooth application deployments and issue resolution.
•Participate in continuous learning and contribute to improving automation and operational efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
•1–3 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, Infrastructure, System Administration, or a related technical role.
•Basic to working knowledge of AWS services, preferably EC2, S3, VPC, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
•Understanding of basic AWS networking concepts, including VPC, subnets, security groups, and routing.
•Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
•Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and exposure to tools such as Jenkins.
•Exposure to Bash/Shell, Python, or PowerShell scripting.
•Basic understanding or hands-on exposure to Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
•Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket and version control practices.
•Basic understanding of application deployment, monitoring, logs, and troubleshooting.
•Exposure to tools such as Jira and Confluence.
•Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
•Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering
- Proficient with AWS core services (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS CodePipeline, CodeDeploy
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Provisioning/configuration experience with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash/Shell, or PowerShell)
- Experience managing Unix/Linux environments
- Familiarity with version control and collaboration tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence)
