About Eos Energy Enterprises

Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc. is accelerating the shift to American energy independence with positively ingenious solutions that transform how the world stores power. Our breakthrough Znyth™ aqueous zinc battery was designed to overcome the limitations of conventional lithium-ion technology. It is safe, scalable, efficient, sustainable, manufactured in the U.S., and the core of our innovative systems that today provides utility, industrial, and commercial customers with a proven, reliable energy storage alternative for 3 to 12-hour applications. Eos was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Edison, New Jersey. For more information about Eos (NASDAQ: EOSE), visit eose.com.

About the Role

The Control Systems Design Engineer helps develop the control strategies that manage battery behavior, grid interactions, and site‑level automation. This role will work closely with the engineering teams to integrate BMS, PCS, and EMS controls into a cohesive platform that supports reliable energy delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control system architectures for BESS, including battery management system (BMS) integration, energy management system (EMS) logic, and power conversion system (PCS) controls

  • Create control algorithms for charge/discharge cycles, state‑of‑charge (SOC) balancing, and grid support functions (e.g., frequency regulation, voltage support).

  • Develop PLC, SCADA, and HMI logic tailored to energy storage applications

  • Model and simulate system behavior using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink to validate control strategies under various grid and environmental conditions.

  • Collaborate with electronics engineering, software engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of control hardware, sensors, and communication networks.

  • Support commissioning and field deployment, including troubleshooting control logic, tuning system parameters, and validating performance on live systems.

  • Ensure that designs comply with safety standards such as UL 9540, UL 1741, NFPA 855, and IEEE grid interconnection requirements.

  • Develop technical documentation, including control narratives, functional design specifications, test procedures, and system architecture diagrams.

  • Continuously improve system performance by implementing advanced control strategies, predictive analytics, and optimization techniques

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems, including BMS, PCS, EMS, and site‑level controls.

  • Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), SCADA platforms, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, IEC 61850).

  • Knowledge of power systems, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and grid interconnection requirements.

  • Experience with control theory, system dynamics, and real‑time control implementation.

  • Ability to interpret single‑line diagrams, control schematics, and electrical drawings.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues in complex energy systems.

  • Experience with energy storage, renewable energy, or power electronics preferred.

  • Knowledge of relevant standards (UL, IEEE, NFPA) and utility interconnection requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience

Travel

  • Local Travel: 10-25%

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
