Engineer to be Associate/Principal on NFX’s investment team

We are NFX Capital, one of the largest seed-only VC firms in the world. We’re currently investing our 4th Fund of $325 Million. We’re growing our investing team by one in San Francisco/Palo Alto.

Who are you?

You’re an engineer by background, but good at talking to people.  We want someone with software knowledge to help us evaluate technical capabilities of the startups we look at. We look at 10,000 companies per year, so we need someone process-oriented and relentless to help us work through those. Once we identify our target founders, you will need to be able to have fun talking to them.  

You’re interested in the following investment sectors: consumer software, games and crypto. You will be working with a General Partner focused on those sectors, doing proactive outreach to founders, as well as fielding inbound introductions.  You’ll be helping to both host and attend events in search of companies in these sectors.

You're local to the San Francisco Bay Area. You’ve lived, worked, and networked here for at least 3 recent years. You know who to call, where to go, and what's hot or not. 

You hustle. You need to find the hot teams and companies before others do. VC is a sales job. VC is now a highly competitive sport that requires speed, decisiveness, empathy, dexterity, patience, and endurance.  

You're an amazing human being. Strong at heart, generous in spirit. Charismatic, perceptive, humble, humorous, confident, and driven…by that we mean not just “I can do it” confident, but “it’s ok if I can’t do it” confident. You’re a natural psychologist. You understand people and see patterns. You see things others do not about people and the mechanics that make businesses work.

You like being on a team. You care more about *doing* right than *being* right. 

NFX will probably *not* be a good fit for you if: You think investing is glamorous; you think investing will be a more balanced lifestyle than running a company; you want to work alone; you really like the Rosewood Hotel on Sand Hill; or you’re trying to decide whether to live in the SF Bay Area or somewhere else.

This position is NOT a remote position. Please do not apply if you are not in the San Francisco Bay Area or cannot work out of the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices.
