About the roleMUBI is growing, and we’re looking for a Mid–Senior Backend Engineer to help scale our product. You’ll tackle challenges across APIs, payments, search, streaming, data, and security.

Where you'll have impact:Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Ruby on Rails and relational databases
Build and optimize APIs that power our web, mobile, and TV applications across global markets
Implement and improve distributed systems using ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, Redis, and Sidekiq
Contribute to the modernization of our architecture, including migrating monolithic components to container-based systems like EKS
Develop and optimize billing, payment processing, and subscription management systems
2+ years of professional backend development experience
Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and relational databases
Experience with distributed systems and caching strategies (Redis, ElasticSearch)
Solid understanding of API design and RESTful principles
Experience with background job processing using Sidekiq or similar queue systems
Knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure
A strong enthusiasm for quick learning and adapting to new technologies
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Knowledge of video streaming technologies (DASH, HLS, DRM) will be a significant advantage
Experience with serverless architectures and managed services on AWS
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
Infrastructure as code expertise (Chef, Terraform, or similar)
Understanding of CDN infrastructure and content delivery optimization
Experience with payment processing and billing systems
Experience building and maintaining Ruby gems and libraries
Experience with video streaming (DASH, HLS, DRM).
Knowledge of CDN infrastructure and content delivery.
Background in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).
Infrastructure as code expertise (Chef, Terraform, etc.).
High-volume payment processing and billing experience.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
