Who We Are:
Tenex is where builders, operators, and problem-solvers come together to help the world’s most ambitious companies tackle their toughest challenges. We work at the intersection of strategy and engineering — embedding dedicated teams directly into organizations to turn complex, high-stakes problems into real, measurable outcomes. We don’t do slide decks and hand-offs; we sit in the trenches alongside our clients and build.
We operate with the speed of a startup and the rigor of the best firms in the world. Our culture is built on intellectual curiosity, radical ownership, and a belief that exceptional work comes from diverse teams who are empowered to challenge assumptions, move fast, and hold each other to a higher standard. If you want to work on projects that actually matter, alongside people who make you better — Tenex is the place to do it.
The Role:
The Engagement Manager owns a Tenex pod end-to-end, managing client relationships while turning vision into clear, executable plans for AI Strategists and engineers. You’re accountable for delivery quality, speed, and outcomes—shipping work that earns “wow” moments and expands accounts. In your first 30–90 days, you establish clear goals, cadence, and expectations, reducing surprises and increasing throughput. Over time, success is measured by managed revenue, client referenceability, and repeatable delivery.
What You’ll Do:
Lead AI diagnostics and trials outside of standard engagements, helping clients identify high-impact opportunities and setting the foundation for expanded partnerships.
Own client engagements end-to-end, stepping in at the close of the sales process to build proposals, establish context, and ensure a seamless transition from sale to delivery.
Translate strategy into execution, turning high-level objectives into clear, prioritized plans for AI Strategists and engineers while driving alignment across the pod.
Drive delivery excellence, increasing throughput, predictability, and quality while minimizing surprises, rework, and firefighting.
Grow and retain accounts, delivering consistent “wow” moments, expanding scope based on proven impact, and owning managed revenue and long-term client success.
Coach, develop, and elevate the pod, providing ongoing feedback and guidance while building standards, playbooks, and operating rhythms that scale across Tenex.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Client-Facing Leadership – 5–8 years owning complex client engagements in consulting or product-led environments, with clear accountability for outcomes.
Executive-to-Technical Translator – Fluent in bridging business objectives and technical execution
Consultative Communication – Confident, credible presence with executives and teams; clear writer, active listener, and direct communicator without fluff.
Product & Delivery Instincts – Proven ability to scope, sequence, and ship software, turning ambiguity into execution and repeatable systems.
Execution Ownership – Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams across strategy, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality results.
Operational Judgment & Grit – Highly organized, decisive under pressure, comfortable with healthy confrontation, and relentlessly biased toward action.
We’ve Got You Covered:
Comprehensive medical coverage (PPO and HSA options), dental, and vision
HSA, Healthcare FSA, and Commuter Benefits
100% employer-paid life insurance + AD&D
100% employer-paid long-term disability insurance
Responsible PTO — take what you need
What we offer:
The base salary for this role is $200,000 to $250,000. In addition to base pay, with opportunities for further upside tied directly to your output (account outcomes, expansion, and pod performance). When determining compensation, we consider job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Our workplace:
We prioritize in-person work and collaborate from our New York City office five days a week. We believe our best ideas come from working closely together. Being in the same space enables faster collaboration, real-time problem solving, and stronger relationships that elevate how we build and execute as a team.

What We Do
This AI thing, it’s real. As real as mobile, the internet, and each of the major paradigm shifts in technology that came before it. In fact, we think it’s more real. More powerful. More disruptive to how we work & how businesses operate. This leaves you with a choice. Disrupt yourself. Or be disrupted by others. Because as the cost of intelligence approaches zero, businesses will need to transition from AI-absent to AI-native if they want to stay relevant and succeed.
