Primary Objectives of the Position:
The primary function of this position is to ensure safe loading, transport, and delivery of bulk refined fuels and propane products from various terminals to Central United Cooperative storage and direct to customers of the cooperative.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Coordinates an efficient route system with dispatch to maximize time and cost-per-mile efficiencies.
- Takes responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of assigned vehicle.
- Operates vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations related to the energy industry.
- Is responsible for accurate delivery of all Bill of Ladings to customers and the internal energy accounting office.
- Performs routine customer tank inspections.
- Assists in resolving customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies. Refers unusual situations to direct supervisor and/or the VP of Energy.
- Maintains required logs, daily truck inspections and other required documentation.
- Attends appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other:
- Must be in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying and pushing weights up to 50 pounds and have full use of both arms and legs and both hands.
- Must be able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.
- Must attend all educational training required by law.
- Must comply with all safety regulations and policies of the company.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma desired but not required.
- Must have a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with haz-mat and tanker endorsements, or be able to acquire the licensure immediately.
- Must be an insurable driver.
- Be able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of customers and work colleagues.
- Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, energetic, and adhere to deadlines.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work extended hours in peak seasons.
Value-Added Qualifications:
- Knowledge about energy department products and services.
- Previous hazardous material transportation experience is desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
- Cooperative experience and/or an agricultural background.
Skills Required
