We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Energy Marshal to join our -growing construction enterprise. As an Energy Marshal, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the Company’s LOTO policies on construction projects. Your primary goal will be to ensure our work is being done safely with all appropriate LOTOs installed and coordinate the work that needs to be completed on systems that have been turned over from construction to commissioning or the Client/Owner. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with our energy isolation policies.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain the project's Energization Status and LOTO programs.
  • Coordinate all energization events: temporary power, first-time energization, etc.
  • Lead or oversee energization meetings/simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) meetings (typically daily or weekly project dependent).
  • Ensure proper signage, barricades, and safe work practices around live systems.
  • Coordinate that equipment is ready for energization.
  • Act as a liaison between construction, commissioning, operations, and safety teams regarding work on electrical systems.
  • Keep and maintain a master energization tracker.
  • Approve (or stop) any activities involving live systems if they are unsafe.
  • Work closely with General Contractor (GC) safety and Owner safety teams.
  • Review CMOP/FTE procedures to ensure all LOTO points are appropriately identified.
  • Review LOTO requests to ensure all LOTO points are appropriately identified for the scope of work.
  • Regular audits of the LOTO log. Audits to be performed in conjunction with the Project Safety Superintendent.
  • Order LOTO supplies (locks, tags, hasps, etc.)

Minimum Requirements 

  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical construction experience.
  • Licensed Journeyman or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with LOTO.
  • Understanding of one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to review equipment submittals.
  • NFPA 70E Trained.
  • OSHA 30.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds, unassisted, as required.
  • Ability to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and other safe work platforms and areas when necessary.
  • Able to work a 40-hour work week, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required.
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow depending on the job location.
  • Ability to walk or stand for an extended period of time.

Safety Level 

This is a safety sensitive position, and all applicable policies including drug test and background check will apply.

  • The inherent responsibilities of your role may include physical working conditions. In order to safely and successfully perform job duties you must be able to:  
    • Potentially lift, up to 50 pounds 
    • Potentially need to do repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching (or working above shoulder), walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing  
    • Potentially operate a motor vehicle, crane, tractor, etc.
