The Role:

This role requires a motivated and ambitious lawyer to work within the Energy & Infrastructure team in our London Office. 

 
This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and expanding global team which focuses on advising on large energy & infrastructure projects and transactions across the UK, EMEA and globally. This includes renewables, nuclear, CCUS, hydrogen, powered infrastructure (such as data centres), EV and decarbonisation. The work that the team does spans M&A, project development, financing and commercial contracts. We also support on ESG, energy and infrastructure regulatory and advisory matters. The main clients of the team are major energy companies and the firm's core financial sponsor clients. We also act for lenders and alternative credit providers who are active in the energy sector. 

A successful associate candidate will likely have demonstrable energy experience (ideally including renewables), have a strong interest in the sector and be willing to work flexibly to support across a range of work types and sub-sectors.

Greenberg Traurig’s global Energy & Natural Resources Practice brings together attorneys from across the firm and around the globe who provide advice to energy clients on important aspects of their business.

Our attorneys have broad transactional, regulatory, and litigation experience across many sectors of the energy industry, including power and renewables, oil & gas, LNG and metals, mining and commodities.. 

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the smooth management of transactions and projects as part of the deal team
• Conducting and overseeing specialist due diligence 
• Drafting and negotiating key projects and transaction documents 
• Self-motivated business development and business development with the wider team 
• Manage all client work allocated to them, liaising with clients, managing expectations and providing consistently excellent client service 
• Exercising high standards of client care in a professional and friendly manner. 
• Ensuring that all the Firm’s business and client documentation is kept confidential and secure. 
• Keeping up to date with caselaw, policy and planned reforms.

Experience, Skills and personal attributes:

• Experience in an energy-focused team with significant experience in either projects, energy M&A or project finance 
• Ability to understand complex legal principles and apply them accordingly 
• A high level of oral and written communication, presentation and influencing skills with the ability to quickly establish relationships at all levels; 
• Demonstrate ability to confidently interact with clients and actively seek new business development opportunities 
• A commercial and pragmatic outlook 
• Ability to demonstrate a flexible and hands-on attitude, responding effectively to rapidly changing circumstances. 
• Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook). 
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and be a role model for the team

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree achieving a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent 
Admitted to practice as a solicitor either in England and Wales or qualified overseas with experience in the London market.
