The Role
NextGen Federal Systems is seeking an Emerging Technologies Lead to support our Federal Law Enforcement program.  The Emerging Technologies Lead is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and guiding the adoption of innovative and transformative technologies that can drive strategic value and operational efficiency across the enterprise. This role serves as a key innovation catalyst, combining deep technical knowledge with strong leadership and communication skills to introduce and integrate cutting-edge technologies into complex IT environments. The Emerging Technologies Lead plays a critical role in fostering a culture of innovation, collaborating across departments to evaluate feasibility, develop proofs-of-concept, and oversee successful implementation.

Key Responsibilites

  • Lead the discovery, assessment, and implementation of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, cloud computing, IoT, blockchain, data analytics, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Conduct comprehensive technology scouting and feasibility studies to evaluate the potential impact of new technologies on business and technical operations.
  • Develop and guide proof-of-concept (PoC) efforts to validate capabilities and demonstrate value before full-scale adoption.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to develop strategic roadmaps for adopting emerging technologies that align with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders, executives, and decision-makers.
  • Influence and guide cross-functional teams to embrace and adopt innovative solutions through strategic planning, training, and change management support.
  • Manage technology integration efforts, including planning, budgeting, and resource coordination, to ensure successful deployment and measurable impact.
  • Monitor industry trends, maintain relationships with technology vendors, and evaluate competitive landscapes to inform innovation strategies.
  • Ensure all new technology initiatives comply with relevant security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of recent experience (within the last two years) integrating new and emerging technologies into existing IT infrastructures to improve operational functionality.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technology scouting, feasibility analysis, proof-of-concept development, and strategic planning.
  • Broad technical skillset and experience across multiple domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud services, data platforms, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and change management skills to lead cross-disciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
