What is this position about?  

The Financial Controller - EMEA will be responsible for the accounting and preparation of financial reporting for Blend EMEA, working closely with the global accounting function based in Uruguay to ensure alignment with global accounting policies  

This role has a dual reporting line to the VP Controller (Uruguay) and the EMEA Finance Director (NL)

This position requires a start time of 7:00 AM GMT-3 to ensure better alignment with the EMEA time zone.

Role and Responsibilities 

• Oversight of accounts payable (ensuring correct processing of supplier invoices and payments) 

• Oversight of accounts receivable (ensuring correct processing of customer invoices and revenue recognition) 

• Cash / Banks (payment processing and cashflow management and forecasting) 

• Monthly close processes (accruals, corrections etc) 

• Monthly balance sheet reconciliation.

• Support the EMEA finance director in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports (results, variance analysis etc) 

• All tax related items include VAT, CIT, payroll tax.

• Yearly audit of multiple entities.

• Payroll approval and oversight for EMEA entities.

• Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency. 

• Ensuring that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation. 

• Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed. 

• Keeping informed about the latest developments in the finance industry. 

• Being the first point of contact for suppliers, banks, insurance companies and auditors.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.  

• Excellent communication skills.  

• Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.  

• Proficiency with Microsoft applications i.e. Word; Outlook; Excel and PowerPoint  

• Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.  

• High level of efficiency and accuracy.  

• Attention to detail and the ability to analyse large amounts of data.  

• Experience working in Big 4 companies or Audit firms is a plus  

• Hands-on, analytical, accurate, entrepreneurial mindset  

• Previous exposure to working in data / consultancy / technology driven organisations  

• Previous exposure / experience in scale up environment  

• Previous exposure to European working culture and environment, with EMEA financial controlling experience a huge plus  

• Highly flexible and agile approach

Excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication is a must! 

How much experience must I have?  

We're looking for someone with 8+ years of experience in Finance, with a significant portion of that time being in a financial controller position.
