How you will make an impact as a EMC Test Technician:
- Conduct in-house electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing including ESD, EFT, Surge, Magnetic Fields, Voltage Dips and Radiated/Conducted Emissions
- Execute test cases to verify device electromagnetic compatibility and accurately record findings
- Gain in-depth knowledge of medical device functionality and intended clinical use to effectively assess compliance with regulatory standards during testing
- Use troubleshooting tools to locate problematic electrical and mechanical areas causing excessive emissions or weak immunity
- Contribute to design failure investigations, root-cause analysis and failure mitigation
- Participate in test planning to define test strategies and identify key test criteria based on project goals and development stages
- Collaborate with the EMC team to develop and refine work instructions, ensuring the accurate assessment of EMC in electronic medical devices.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards by maintaining a clean and organized test lab environment, minimizing hazards and ensuring equipment functionality.
- Follow lab safety procedures
- Perform regular maintenance and verification of test equipment, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy for testing processes.
- Support testing at contract test laboratories by setting up the device, monitoring functionality and communicating with test laboratory personnel to finalize the test data.
- Over 2 years of experience as an electronics test technician, proficient in performing detailed functional and performance tests to ensure compliance with design specifications
- EMC test experience a plus
- Hands-on experience with advanced electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and multimeters, to conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of complex electronic circuits
- Extensive knowledge of test and measurement instruments, with expertise in selecting the appropriate tools for various testing scenarios and accurately interpreting test results
- Basic rework skills, including soldering and mechanical adjustments
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, aiding in troubleshooting, test setups, and system-level diagnostics
- Demonstrated ability to set up and solve engineering problems, leveraging technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues during product testing and development
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams, contributing to product development and continuous improvement processes
- Highly self-motivated with strong time management skills, consistently prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communicator, capable of clearly explaining testing objectives, procedures, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to complete all tasks that require the use of a computer and office equipment
- Ability to move throughout the building and grounds and communicate with employees, customers and others
- Ability to move items weighing up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to bend, twist, and reach frequently
