Embedded Software Engineer

Tendeg LLC is a premier spacecraft deployables company. Our novel designs are enabling exciting missions providing high gain antennas for sensor applications and communications. Title: Embedded Software Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Pay Range: $130,000-$140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

Location: Louisville, CO

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer that will support the following programs:

• INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models
• 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO, MEO and lunar applications.
• Perimeter Truss Reflectors: Tendeg has multiple contracts to deliver large aperture antennas for GEO communications, SAR, and national security.

What you'll do:

• Daily work includes designing, implementing, and testing of embedded software components to interface and control various peripherals such as motors, encoders, heaters, and sensors. Including, but not limited to, flight software.
• Creation of technical documentation throughout the development process including software interface control documents (ICDs) and customer facing presentations
• Support problem resolution throughout all phases of the program (functional and system integration and test)
• Development work is executed in a team environment spanning multiple programs.
• Daily collaboration with other engineering disciplines, project, production, and program management to ensure milestones are on target.
• Work consists of making significant improvements to solutions or products.
• Conducts extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems.
• Communicates with contacts within and across programs.
• Responsible for communicating with external parties which include larger customers or vendors.
• Communicates with and conducts briefings with leadership on matters of significant importance.
• Works to influence others to accept individual or team’s new concepts, practices and methods.
• Flow down leadership information to team members.
• Participate in team discussions while remaining open-minded and willing to entertain other’s ideas.
• Plans work across multiple programs.
• Regularly improves technologies and standard practices to improve efficiency across the department.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Key Job Requirements:

• BA/MS in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Ability to program in multiple environments, languages, and operating systems.
• Working on multi-disciplinary design and development teams
• Documenting software and presenting capabilities in design reviews
• Testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing defects in software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
• Experience with formal software development practices including the use of software configuration management, coding standards, and style guide.
• Experience in providing leadership and design of software process systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a high reliability industry such as aerospace, medical device, or automotive.
• FPGA experience is a plus.
• Prior experience working with motor control applications preferred.
