Job Summary
The role holder plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all mechanical and electrical systems within the manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of integrated systems involving machinery, automation, controls, and facility utilities. This position requires hands-on technical expertise combined with analytical problem-solving skills to support high-performance manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
1. Install & Commission Equipment
Set up new production machinery, automation lines, and utility systems
Work closely with vendors and OEMs during installations.
2. Maintain & Troubleshoot Systems
Perform hands-on troubleshooting of motors, PLCs, conveyors, pumps, electrical panels, sensors, etc.
Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns promptly to reduce production delays.
3. Optimize & Improve Processes
Identify improvement opportunities in equipment performance, energy use, and automation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, TPM).
4. Support Automation & Control
Configure and calibrate control systems (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs).
Monitor system performance using SCADA or similar tools.
5. Ensure Safety & Compliance
Uphold safety standards (OSHA)during installations and maintenance.
Maintain detailed records, drawings, and technical documentation.
Skills and Attributes
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and people management skills.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment, material selection for tooling, and machine spare parts.
Ability to troubleshoot, respond calmly, and think quickly in emergency situations.
Strong understanding of Electromechanical Engineering principles and cGMP requirements.
Hands-on experience in machine calibration, modification, and preventive maintenance strategies.
High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and ERP/maintenance systems.
Qualifications
Minimum Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized institution.
Registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya.
Minimum 5 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects and plant operations
Skills Required

- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and ERP/maintenance systems
- Knowledge of cGMP requirements and safety standards (OSHA)
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, Lean, TPM)
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and people management skills
