The Role
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Our Kaiser Aluminum Spokane Washington aluminum casting, plating and rolling plant has several opportunities for students in Electrical Engineering programs to intern with us. Student interns will report to a mentor who will assign projects which include: 
 

What you work on:

  • The Electrical Engineering Intern's essential functions include:
  • Assist with management of ongoing department projects.
  • Participate in project related construction and outage activities.
  • Execute individual engineering projects as assigned.
  • Participate in the development of project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Assist with and develop specifications in support of projects.
  • Prepare and organize project documentation (manuals, PM's, spare parts, correspondence, drawings, drawing lists, material listings, etc.).
  • Other tasks as assigned by departmental mentor.

REPORTS TO: Electrical Project Lead

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Non-exempt

SUPERVISES: N/A


Only local candidates will be considered. Housing will not be provided. 

Preferred Qualifications

What you will bring to the positions:


  • B.S.E.E. in progress, preferably having completed junior year course work.
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, motors, power/control theory and application, and instrumentation.
  • Proven problem solving skills.
  • Practical experience and aptitude with hands-on experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Approximately 50% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 50% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to operating machinery and a manufacturing environment.
