We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Chief  for our Buildings group with experience in leading teams and the management of Programs and Projects in the Aviation sector to join our fast paced and high energy team! 

Working as part of a program management team, the EE Director will lead the management and oversight of design, construction and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire life safety systems for large scale project and program management assignments within our construction management group in the Northeast. The main client focus will be aviation and transportation clients, but may also include industrial, federal, state and local government markets.

Project types include new construction, renovation and addition to existing facilities. Our role may involve oversight of all phases of work from program development, site selection, pre-construction planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, A/E/C team selection, design and construction management, FF&E procurement and installation, equipment planning and move coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities will include:
    • Scope development.
    • Design management.
    • Coordination of project activities for the completion activities, design and construction.
    • Including oversight of MEP related scope, project deliverables, schedule and budget.
    • Participates in, or lead project-specific presentations related to systems.
    • Implement management process and procedures relating to scope areas.
    • Establishes contractor-client liaison network to keep interested parties informed of project planning, start date, and work and budget progress.
  • Planning & Pre-Construction
    • Review work-letters and provide comment.
    • Review and establish staging and phasing requirements.
    • Establish overall project budgets and schedules.
    • Establish major interface points and milestones.
    • Manage the design process through permitting.
  • Design & Construction
    • Oversee design and construction activities and proactively mitigate challenges.
    • Conduct regular site visits and construction meetings.
    • Manage budget and schedule and document progress and action items.
    • Manage payment requisitions and negotiate change orders.
    • Monitor major milestones, phasing and recommend corrective actions to maintain schedules.
  • Closeout and Commissioning
    • Conduct regular end-user meetings.
    • Oversee commissioning and punch list close out.
    • Preparation of project close-out documents including financial reporting and operational documents and manuals.

Required Skills

  • Technical project management skills related to planning, design, construction. and/or relocation projects sufficient to ensure success in this position.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to understand client needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Extreme attention to detail and sound decision making.
  • Capability to manage competing demands on multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Be able to prioritize and handle challenging projects with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable making presentations, managing meetings, and speaking in front of groups.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working between STV offices and multiple client sites. Must have personal transportation.

Education & Experience:

  • 4-year degree in electrical engineering, a master’s degree would be a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in design and construction of EE systems.
  • Knowledge of local marketplace including relationships with architects and other vendors, experience in the NY/NJ Aviation market with Port Authority a plus.
  • PE required
  • MS Windows, Office and Project experience required; AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, eBuilder, Primavera experience a plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with building codes and standard

Compensation Range:

$179,831.00 - $195,683.00

Skills Required

  • Four-year degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical engineering systems design and construction
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Technical project management experience in planning, design, construction, and/or relocation projects
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Experience with MS Windows, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and meeting-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client projects, prioritize competing demands, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Personal transportation for travel between offices and client sites
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering
