About Us

Icarus Robotics is building the robotic workforce for space industrialization. We're developing dexterous robots that can be teleoperated from Earth to automate routine tasks inside space stations, dramatically reducing operational costs and unlocking the astronaut labor bottleneck.

We've raised over $12M in capital from top-tier investors in deep tech and space, we're rapidly expanding our team and accelerating our development timeline. Our engineers work directly with NASA and collaborate with some of the largest aerospace companies on next-generation space technologies. We've secured partnerships with commercial LEO destination companies who will host our robots on future space stations, creating a clear path to orbit for our technology. We're now preparing for our first ISS test mission — a key step toward full orbital deployment.

We believe in an industrialized low-Earth orbit this decade and we’re making it happen.

Position Overview

As an electrical engineer, you’ll help shape our technology from the ground up. You'll own a large portion of the design, prototyping, and integration of the electronics that power our robots. From early prototypes to zero-gravity testing and finally, full scale orbital deployment, you’ll be making an impact on the future of space operations. You will put a robot in space.

What You’ll Do
  • Own subsystems end to end: schematic, layout, bring-up, bench validation, and flight qualification

  • Take designs from concept to production-ready PCBs, working closely with mechanical and robotics teams.

  • Write and optimize embedded firmware for motor control, sensors, and communication modules.

  • Design and implement power distribution and battery management solutions for space applications.

  • Own the integration of actuators, sensors, and communication systems into a cohesive robotic platform.

  • Power system design — from battery packs and BMS to regulators and power distribution

  • COTS hardware selection and integration: sensors, ESCs, motor drivers and more

  • Prototyping custom PCBs (low-voltage control, sensors, safety systems)

  • Implement safety system: watchdogs, failsafes, thermal limits, and hard kills

  • Collaborating tightly with mechanical and software teams to keep the robot alive and operating

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Experience with PCB design and circuit prototyping (Altium, Eagle, KiCad, or similar).

  • Hands-on experience with Linux and embedded computing (STM32, Jetson, Raspberry Pi, etc.).

  • Experience with power systems, battery management, and low-power embedded design.

  • Python/C++ skills for hardware integration and control.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Flight, defense, medical, or other safety-critical hardware experience

  • Lithium-ion battery safety and certification

  • CAN bus, real-time motor control, and ROS

  • Control systems, kinematics, and actuator dynamics

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers

What We Offer
  • Generous equity as an early team member

  • Competitive salary: $120,000–$220,000, depending on experience and seniority.

  • Comprehensive healthcare and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision.

  • A monthly lifestyle spending account through Joon - use it for gym memberships, fitness classes, wellness, and more

  • Access to cutting-edge tools and hardware, and the freedom to move fast.

  • A key role in shaping the future of in-space robotics and orbital manufacturing.

  • Opportunities to collaborate with top-tier investors, NASA teams, and leading space companies.

  • Citibike Membership

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with PCB design and circuit prototyping
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and embedded computing
  • Experience with power systems and battery management
  • Python/C++ skills for hardware integration and control
