Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust power distribution systems for vehicle-integrated equipment, including power distribution boxes, wiring harnesses, and cabling. Documenting design for some RF and Ethernet cables will also be required.
- Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry safety standards and codes (e.g., SAE, ISO, IPC,MIL-STD).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other design documentation using PTC Creo.
- Collaborate with technicians and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Provide support during assembly and integration.
- Update and revise drawings and documentation as needed based on feedback from technicians, manufacturing, and testing.
- Work directly with customers to understand their requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and occasionally assist in developing new requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to cross-functional teams.
- Assist with fielding.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering and vehicle integration technologies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Must have an Active US Government Secret Clearance. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Proven experience in electrical system design, preferably in the automotive or related industries.
- Strong understanding of power distribution system design principles, including cable sizing, connector selection, circuit protection, and grounding techniques.
- Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design, with PTC Creo experience preferred; experience with other CAD software will be considered.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., SAE, ISO, IPC, MIL-STD).
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and integration is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The salary range for this position is $100k to $125K. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
