Responsibilities :

Manage all aspects of engineering projects from feasibility study through detail design, procurement, construction, start-up and post startup optimization. Responsible for developing, planning, and managing, the scope, budget, schedule, and safe execution of successful projects associated with wood products manufacturing. Adjusts style and approach to establish productive relationships with a diverse group of customers, stake holders and cultures.  Defines roles and responsibilities, directs, and leads project team members, contractors and consultants. Acts independently on technical matters related to engineering. Provides technical and supervisory expertise for capital projects.  30% annual travel required to manufacturing locations.

Qualifications :

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required. M.S. is desirable.
  • 480V power distribution design, secondary 480VAC transformer to motors.
  • Established the motor list, PDC and related feeders (MCC feeders and utility panels), MCC motor/bucket arrangement, sized of VFD’s, brake resistors, and starters, MCC control components and E-net configuration, safety relay and LOTO architecture, field I/O configuration, grounding system design, and local disconnects.
  • Directed designers/consultants to detail the drawings, including cable and conduit schedules, field configuration (conduit, tray, above ground, underground, and routing), as well as electrical room general arrangements.
  • Autonomously established the concept/architecture best practices and the electrical “workmanship” trade and communicated/validated that to consultants so that these are captured on the drawings released for construction.
  • Electrical system modelling using EasyPower to limit arc flash energy and to protect and coordinate 480 VAC electrical systems in a large industrial facility as well as experience installing and commissioning related hardware.
  • Large project installation experience (ideally in the > $4 mm range) including hardware and electrical contractor work.
  • Ability to perform arc flash and coordination studies of electrical systems. 
  • Emphasis in managing full spectrum of project activities required.
  • Requires advanced level of understanding in project management systems and techniques.
  • Requires knowledge of applicable governmental regulations, industry standards and codes particularly NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E, and property loss recommendations (Factory Mutual). 
  • MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, EasyPower.
  • Must be able to walk, kneel, climb ladders and stairs, and dealing with extreme temperatures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer a Professional Engineer License.
  • Prefer 7-10 years progressive experience designing and managing multi-million-dollar industrial capital projects, particularly in wood products manufacturing.
  • Prefer working knowledge of AB ControlLogix.  

Compensation:

$130,000 - $170,000 annually

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with 480V power distribution design and 480VAC transformer-to-motor systems
  • Experience developing motor lists, power distribution centers, feeders, MCC arrangements, VFDs, starters, control components, safety relays, field I/O, grounding systems, and local disconnects
  • Experience directing designers and consultants on electrical drawings, cable and conduit schedules, field configurations, routing, and electrical room layouts
  • Experience establishing electrical system architecture, engineering best practices, and construction workmanship standards
  • Electrical system modeling experience using EasyPower
  • Experience limiting arc-flash energy and protecting and coordinating 480VAC electrical systems
  • Experience installing and commissioning electrical hardware
  • Large-project installation experience, ideally on projects exceeding $4 million
  • Ability to perform arc-flash and electrical coordination studies
  • Advanced understanding of project management systems and techniques
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations, industry standards, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and Factory Mutual recommendations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and EasyPower
  • Ability to walk, kneel, climb ladders and stairs, and work in extreme temperatures
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Master of Science degree
  • Seven to ten years of progressive experience designing and managing multimillion-dollar industrial capital projects
  • Experience in wood products manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
