Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of electrical, lighting, and special systems for new and existing facilities. This role leads project execution from concept through permitting and construction, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, interfaces directly with clients, and supports business growth through technical excellence and project delivery.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Department Manager and works closely with project managers, discipline leaders, clients, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Develop engineering scope documentation, schedules, and effort-hour estimates.
- Client Interface: Lead client presentations both internal and external, design reviews, and project progress meetings.
- Coordination: Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation disciplines, and equipment suppliers.
- Project Execution: Lead engineering and design activities from conception through permitting, construction, and project closeout.
- Quality: Perform final electrical package quality reviews and support AHJ responses.
- Project Controls: Maintain and forecast project costs, schedules, and documentation while ensuring project records are accurately maintained for permanent files.
- Design: Develop electrical plans, one-lines, specifications, calculations, and studies.
- Technical Analysis: Perform lighting calculations, equipment selection, loading calculations, short circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
- Business Development: Maintain existing client relationships and support future opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional electrical engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience for heavy industrial, process, manufacturing, or similarly complex facilities.
- Active Professional Engineer license required, with the ability to obtain professional registration in additional jurisdictions as required.
- Demonstrated experience serving as the lead electrical engineer or engineer of record.
- Experience serving as lead electrical engineer or engineer of record.
- Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex engineering, code, constructability, and field issues while providing technical direction, quality oversight, and mentorship.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Advanced knowledge of electrical power distribution, equipment selection, equipment layout, circuiting, grounding, bonding, lighting, and emergency or standby power systems.
- Ability to independently develop and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, protective-device coordination studies, arc-flash studies, and design recommendations using ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar software.
- Advanced knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code and other applicable electrical, building, fire-protection, and safety standards.
- Ability to interpret code requirements, evaluate alternatives, document engineering decisions, and support responses to Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
- Ability to establish design criteria and perform final technical and quality reviews of calculations, studies, specifications, procurement packages, drawings, and construction documents.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex interdisciplinary coordination, constructability, equipment-integration, and field-installation issues.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction to engineers, designers, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience performing site assessments, field investigations, construction support, startup, and commissioning.
- Experience with applicable design, analysis, and collaboration software, including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with lighting calculations and/or simulation software such as ElumTools, Visual, or AGi32.
- Experience designing corporate offices, laboratories, and MEP-related warehouse facilities.

Location:
