As an Electrical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a key role in leading the selection and management of electronic components with our NPI and sustaining teams. You will provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring the successful execution of cost-saving projects while utilizing Honeywell preferred suppliers. In this role, you will impact the successful execution and delivery of procurement projects by leveraging your expertise in component Engineering. Your focus on managing the approved manufacturer’s part list, utilizing key suppliers for NPI, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and effectively managing end-of-life and PCN (part change notice) is a key contribution and a critical element to the success of our Honeywell Fire Business. 

Responsibilities
  • Lead the selection, qualification, and management of electronic components for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering programs. 
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams to support successful project execution and product development. 
  • Manage and maintain the Approved Manufacturer Part List (AML) to ensure component compliance, availability, and standardization. 
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and supplier partners to leverage Honeywell-preferred suppliers and optimize sourcing strategies. 
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement component cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and performance requirements. 
  • Support procurement initiatives by applying component engineering expertise to drive project success and timely delivery. 
  • Monitor and manage product lifecycle risks, including end-of-life (EOL) components and obsolescence challenges. 
  • Review, assess, and coordinate responses to Part Change Notices (PCNs) to minimize business and product impact. 
  • Drive supplier engagement and component selection activities to support new product development and sustain existing product lines. 
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Honeywell Fire Business through effective component management, risk mitigation, and cost optimization initiatives.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE 

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to read, interpret and review electrical schematics.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience investigating electrical components developing specifications and validation requirements for non-custom and custom components.
  • Solid understanding of Electrical components and how they are used within circuits.
  • Proven track record of managing component selection based on key suppliers with proven quality parts and cost driven structure.

WE VALUE

  • Minimum of 3 years working with End-of-Life components, PCN’s and reduction of last time buys.
  • Ability to evaluate circuits from schematics and determine how the circuit works and can be tested.
  • Basic regulatory knowledge of, UL, ULC, FM, FCC, EN, NFPA standards.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Siemens team center for documentation control.
  • Exceptional cross functional collaboration experience working across disciplines such as sourcing, manufacturing, quality management and outside vendors.
