The Role

The Electrical Controls Engineer will work under the direction of the Construction Engineering Manager to execute the industrial control, BAS/BMS controls, and programming strategy for GTI’s cultivation and production facility.  This role will oversee site-level industrial control system implementation and modification, BAS/BMS controls, and associated networking protocols related to cultivation environments and process automation.  The Electrical Controls Engineer shall aid in the development of the industrial communication infrastructure and act to plan, deploy, and troubleshoot new functionality for site-level projects.  This role will be responsible for overseeing direction of external vendors in keeping with GTI’s goals and standards.  The right candidate for us has a strong controls background, experience in industrial networking, working knowledge of HVAC systems, a working knowledge of power distribution systems, and is comfortable working cross-functionally with both external vendors and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities

 

  • Work with integrators, contractors, and site personnel to bring new functionality online and troubleshoot issues, including parts repair and replacement.
  • Act as the site-level focal point/interface between the operational technology (OT) and IT.
  • Ensure that all new site-level controls, networking, and power distribution projects are planned and integrated in keeping with the GTI enterprise-level direction.
  • Work with site reliability and facilities personnel to develop and execute preventative maintenance plans.
  • Maintain up to date as-built records and drawings for control systems, BAS systems, HVAC systems, power distribution systems, OT, and IT deployments.
  • Support operational needs during off-shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, HVAC, building automation, or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of experience In Building Automation, SCADA, and Industrial controls to Include control system hardware design, control system software design, and HMI system design.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills resolving electrical and control systems issues.
  • Proficiency reading and understanding engineering drawings including electrical diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Industrial networking/IT experience, including experience in the administration of Microsoft collaboration software and infrastructure (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Active Directory).
  • CPG/Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Ladder Logic, Wonderware, Rockwell, or similar engineering tools and platforms preferred.
  • Building Management System (BMS), Niagara Platform, and Argus Control Solutions.
  • Working knowledge of various BAS/BMS protocols such as Bacnet and Modbus.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC sytsems.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems.
  • Strong verbal / written communication, presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage large-scale projects from conception to implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively with little supervision; highly independent / flexible setting priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks / projects.
  • Ability to collaboratively lead / influence stakeholders across organizational functions.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass any and all required background checks.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry.
