The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) department plays a vital role in creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace across Alvotech’s operations. Partnering closely with employees, managers, contractors, and external stakeholders, the team drives a proactive safety culture, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
 

Overview of the Role

Alvotech is seeking an EHS Specialist to support our manufacturing operations in Reykjavik, Iceland. This is an exciting opportunity for biotechnology, scientific, or health and safety professionals who are passionate about workplace safety and eager to contribute to a growing global biopharmaceutical company.

In this role, you will support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of EHS programs within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Working alongside a dedicated EHS team, you will provide expert guidance on safety standards and best practices, contribute to compliance initiatives, and help strengthen a culture where health, safety, and operational excellence are at the forefront of everything we do.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management of EHS programs, training activities, and the facilitation of EHS risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance to Alvotech employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors on EHS standards, expectations, and company guidelines within manufacturing areas.
  • Advise teams on EHS requirements and best practices in manufacturing environments.
  • Lead and participate in internal audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to the implementation of industry best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
     
Minimum Education and Experience Required for the Role
  • University degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Degree-level education, preferably in a scientific, technical, or engineering field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Health & Safety role within a regulated industry.
  • Understanding of biotechnology manufacturing processes, including relevant methods, techniques, and equipment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proactive mindset with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve problems effectively, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates without direct EHS experience are encouraged to apply if they possess a relevant educational background, laboratory safety experience, and a strong interest in building a career within EHS.

Skills Required

  • University degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
