Role Overview 

As the EHS Lead – Africa Operating Area & Egypt you will be responsible for providing support to Otis Africa Operating Area efforts related to environmental and safety compliance. In your role you will partner with Otis Field Operations to identify, anticipate, assess hazards, implement company EH&S policies and management systems, maintain regulatory compliance and reduce the impact of incidents and losses, including driving a risk focused approach with field engagement and severity focus. You will report to the Director, EH&S, IBAME and be responsible for supporting the EHS team to implement effective solutions to mitigate high risk activities and provide functional support of metrics, analytics and programs management.
 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Reinforce the importance of EH&S in the organization and actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S objectives.
  • Lead by example and enhance Otis Safety Culture
  • Lead and drive targets related to EHS Roles & Responsibilities with all associated job disciplines in your OA
  • Organize, implement, and maintain environmental, health and safety strategies, initiatives and objectives. Plans and directs complex projects involving multiple disciplines.
  • Engage and lead in the planning schedule for EMEA OT Safety Audits, FFA and other types of audits and engagements
  • Partner with operations to integrate EHS performance and ownership in the OAs branch operations
  • Guide, lead and direct EHS Subordinates in the Operating Area to provide field based EHS support on key performance indicators to include goals and objectives based on initiatives and cascaded goal expectations
  • Provide functional support to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Develop, maintain, and review the OU EHS Management System to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements specific to local, country and regional jurisdictions in the Operating Area
  • Provide, distribute and communicate OA/OT based analytics and data for both leading and lagging indicators to teams
  • Collaborate with the OU EHS Director and OA EHS team to revise and review goals and metrics
  • Coordinate appropriate procedures, approvals, and control of hazardous, regulated and solid wastes
  • Provide guidance and support in country driven reporting structures & regulations
  • Manage and analyze all safety performance measures, documentation and training records in collaboration with field operations and EHS management
  • Travel to area locations to support operations where necessary – 50-70% travel in local area

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree in Health & Safety and or Environmental management or elevator field/operations experience
  • Strong Technical Elevator experience of minimum 8 years
  • Knowledge of management systems, policies, strategies and systems needed to implement an EH&S program
  • Strong interpersonal, strategic thinking/planning and collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in field operations environment, including walking up multiple flights, navigating constructions sites and other remote work environments
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
