POSITION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer I is to implement and support corporate electrical and machine safety policies, procedures, and programs that support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assist with investigations of electrical and/or machine related injuries/incidents to identify root cause and recommend corrective action.
  • Coordinate arc flash assessments of facilities and manufacturing machines and equipment.
  • Coordinate qualified electrical worker training.
  • Schedule regular meetings to communicate electrical and machine related issues or concerns and recommend solutions.
  • Document and maintain the Company's conveyor safety, electrical safety, machine safety, and purchased equipment safety programs.
  • Evaluate and support implementation of leadership's decisions for new electrical and machine safety policies and procedures that address all key issues and concerns for compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in regular machine safety audits for compliance with applicable regulations/requirements and with support from leadership recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate, upon request from engineering design team, in machine design review process to facilitate hazard identification, analysis, and corrective action.
  • Provide support to internal customers with electrical and/or machine safety issues/concerns.
  • Maintain applicable compliance records.
  • Recommend the purchase of applicable electrical and machine safety equipment and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain expertise on current environmental compliance issues through literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.
  • Maintain high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another related field.
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Having a thorough working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Having a thorough understanding of NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Bilingual or Spanish-speaking skills preferred.
  • Experience utilizing online resources to research applicable rules and regulations, as well as pertinent EHS standards, for direction and guidance.
