Job Title: Editorial Specialist
Description
We are seeking a skilled Editorial Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for performing comprehensive quality assurance reviews of instructional courseware and related assets, ensuring editorial excellence, technical accuracy, and compliance with project standards and accessibility requirements across online, instructor-led, and hybrid learning products.
Responsibilities
Editorial and Quality Assurance Review
- Review training assets for grammar, internal consistency, functionality (for web-based products), and adherence to project style and design guides prior to client submission
- Compile and communicate detailed quality review findings for use by the development team
Accessibility and Compliance
- Review training assets for Section 508 accessibility compliance
- Document accessibility issues and collaborate with development teams to resolve identified issues
Process Improvement and Standards Development
- Identify emerging issues from the review process that may drive new or updated quality assurance requirements
- Collaborate with Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs) and development teams to establish course-specific QA requirements when deviations from global standards are necessary
Quality Assurance Oversight and Documentation
- Maintain QA surveillance processes related to content development and production programming as new requirements are identified
- Maintain and update QA process documentation as required
Qualifications
Logistics:
- East coast core hours of 9am to 3pm
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Educational Technology or other related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience performing editorial quality assurance or technical content review in a learning or digital content environment
- Experience reviewing eLearning courses developed in Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline 360/Rise, or similar authoring tools
Technical and Quality Skills: Ensure accuracy and consistency in content development. Strong understanding of 508 accessibility compliance.
- Excellent editorial and writing skills
- Demonstrated understanding of Section 508 requirements, with experience reviewing materials for compliance
- Extensive experience reviewing web-based materials for grammar, continuity, content completeness, and functionality
- Experience serving as an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) or as a member of a courseware development team
Work Environment:
- Ability to work closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams including strong facilitation and analysis skills
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exhibit ability to lead a team through a learning asset development lifecycle
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrate strong information technology skills specifically working in the Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environments
