J.P. Morgan's award-winning Global Research provides clients with informed views and actionable ideas on economic indicators, markets, companies, and asset classes around the world. Research is the foundation for what we do for our clients. From up-to-the-minute original trade ideas, to longer-term thematic pieces that explain the financial markets in depth, our mission is to constantly offer new and original ways for investors to build value.
The Global Economic Research seeks an economist to join our team covering Latin America macro and policy research from our São Paulo office. We conduct research aimed at understanding macroeconomic developments and improving our forecasts of growth, inflation, labor markets, fiscal accounts and central bank policy. Our forecasts and research reach a wide audience of decision makers inside J.P. Morgan, our clients around the world, and through frequent media coverage.
In this role, you will partner with various internal parties and provide up to date, industry leading research. You will be working closely with the economists on analyzing data, building models and writing research reports as well as responding to internal and external client requests. You will be able to recognize critical data points, analytical concepts and come to a logical conclusion through the process.
Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in economics
  • Minimum 4 year of experience as an economist at a private financial, multilateral or public institution
  • Strong analytical skills in macroeconomics and econometrics
  • Deep knowledge of models, programing and data science
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Adaptability and ability to work well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese
