Job Duties:
- Administration of various Department programs including planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising Department personnel.
- Formulate and implement industry and workforce recruitment efforts.
- Identifies, prospects, and successfully closes negotiations with businesses to relocate or expand in Nebraska.
- Represent the state and the Department at trade shows, economic development conferences, and other public events to promote the state and its recruitment efforts.
- Serve as a liaison with communities, businesses, workforce, and entrepreneurs regarding business development needs and economic development programs and services.
- All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework in business administration, economics, marketing or finance; Bachelor’s degree preferred; plus 5-7 years experience in advanced sales, economic development and/or international marketing; foreign language speaking abilities would be a plus.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, marketing, or related field. Two or more years in direct grant management experience. Past professional experience in management, economic development, and marketing.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: the principles, practices and objectives of economic development, grant management, and marketing; principles and practices of supervision; project management procedures; sales techniques including marketing, prospecting, negotiating and closing; research practices and techniques; finance practices and principles.
Ability to: implement and monitor projects and strategies; plan, direct and evaluate the work of economic technical and specialized staff.
