Lion Pride Academy is looking to appoint an ECD Educator to commence duties on 1 January 2027.

The ECD Educator at Lion Pride Academy plays a critical role in establishing the academic, social, emotional, and developmental foundations of our youngest learners. The educator creates a nurturing, stimulating, and structured environment where learners develop independence, confidence, communication skills, and a love for learning.

The ideal candidate understands the importance of play-based and experiential learning in early childhood and is passionate about developing the whole child. As part of the Lion Pride vision, the educator encourages curiosity, creativity, kindness, responsibility, and early entrepreneurial thinking, helping young learners begin to recognise their potential as future leaders and contributors to society.

We are looking for an energetic and nurturing ECD Educator to join our academic team. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who thrives in an early childhood environment and is committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that support each child's unique developmental journey.

ECD Educator responsibilities are:

Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with the relevant curriculum requirements.
  • Use play-based, sensory, creative, and experiential learning to support holistic development.
  • Develop early foundations in language, numeracy, life skills, physical development, and creative expression.
  • Encourage curiosity, exploration, independence, and problem-solving.

Learner Development and Assessment

  • Observe and assess learners' developmental progress continuously.
  • Identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support and intervention.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and developmental portfolios.
  • Provide feedback to parents regarding learner development and progress.

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe, warm, stimulating, and well-organised learning environment.
  • Establish routines and boundaries that promote independence, respect, kindness, and responsibility.
  • Promote positive social interaction and emotional development.
  • Support learners in developing confidence and self-regulation.

Parental and Community Engagement

  • Build positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Communicate regularly regarding learner progress, development, and wellbeing.
  • Participate actively in school events, projects, and community initiatives.

Professional Development

  • Participate in school-based professional development and reflective practice.
  • Remain informed about current ECD teaching practices and developmental approaches.
  • Contribute positively to the school's culture and continuous improvement initiatives.

ECD Educator requirements are:

  • Relevant ECD qualification, such as an NQF Level 5 ECD qualification, Diploma, or Bachelor of Education specialising in Early Childhood Development/Foundation Phase.
  • Current SACE registration where applicable.
  • Police clearance certificate.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and age-appropriate teaching practices.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • Technologically literate and willing to integrate appropriate technology into learning.
  • Energetic, patient, nurturing, reliable, and passionate about young learner development.
  • A genuine commitment to creating a positive, values-driven learning environment.

Skills Required

  • Relevant ECD qualification, such as an NQF Level 5 ECD qualification, Diploma, or Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Childhood Development or Foundation Phase
