About the RoleThe EA-Data Pipeline position fills a critical role at NGP VAN, processing large datasets for our clients and vendors and building out automated processes for large data automation. The ideal candidate is someone who has both the technical skills required for the job but also possesses critical experience within the political tech ecosystem, having an understanding of the unique needs of our clients.
Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process datasets from a variety of data vendors and clients, including voter files, client membership, and other requests.
- Identify and implement automation improvements for data processing enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain project plans and documentation for data pipeline initiatives.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automated solutions.
Required Skills/Abilities (Ideal candidates will possess all of these):
- Experience writing SQL statements in a common RDBMS language (MSSQL)
- Prior experience working for a political campaign/organization, electoral-focused non-profit, or labor union.
- Experience using a scripting language for basic file manipulation tasks
- Knowledge of political districts, electoral calendars, voter files, and other core concepts of electioneering.
Additional Critical Skills/Abilities (Ideal candidates will possess several of these):
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Excellent T-SQL skills, including experience with dynamic SQL
- Experience with the NGP VAN/EveryAction application
- Experience with automating systems
- Understanding of query optimization in a MSSQL environment
Optional Skills/Abilities (Ideal candidates may possess these):
- AI-first mindset for innovation and for enhancing functionality.
- Comfort and ability to use AI for automation and for building data pipelines.
This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by CWA Local 1400, 2336 or 13000.
