Drafter I

NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Drafter I to join our Professional Engineering Consulting team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role supports EPC and engineering design projects for data centers, petrochemical, and oil & gas clients.

The Drafter I is responsible for producing high-quality electrical design deliverables from instructions given by project leads. This position works closely with engineers, designers and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure deliverables are produced as required.

Design & Drafting

• Develop and locate electrical and instrumentation (I&E) equipment within a 3D model environment using AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Revit.
• Coordinate with project leads to produce site-specific power distribution and control system drawings in accordance with company, client, and industry standards for new or existing facilities.
• Interpret PFDs and P&IDs to develop project deliverables that meet design requirements.
• Prepare construction-ready drawings including plans, layouts, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and installation details for electrical systems under the guidance of engineers and lead designers.
• Size cabinets, panelboards, cable tray, and conduits based on project scope, codes, and vendor data.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience as an E&I Drafter supporting industrial, energy, or EPC projects
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
