We are seeking an experienced leader to Lead Resource Strategy and Planning for the Tax Resource Management function, overseeing a team of Resource Managers across the U.S. and India. This role serves as a senior decision-maker and strategic business partner to Tax leadership, responsible for setting direction, independently making resourcing decisions, and ensuring alignment with overall firm strategy, RM strategy, and business priorities.

This leader will drive workforce planning, capacity optimization, and operational excellence to ensure the successful delivery of client work across service lines and markets.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed team of Tax Resource Managers, with demonstrated success in elevating team performance and supporting individual career growth.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and development pathways, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for leadership excellence, sharing best practices and actively developing future RM leaders.
  • Provide leadership during peak seasons, growth initiatives, and M&A integrations, ensuring clear priorities and decisive action.

Strategic Decision-Making & Resource Governance

  • Independently make and own resource management decisions for Tax based on firm strategy, RM strategy, business priorities, and professional judgment.
  • Establish and maintain strategic frameworks and guardrails for resource planning, utilization, and capacity management.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Tax leadership, translating firmwide goals into actionable workforce strategies.

Strategic Resource & Workforce Planning

  • Lead firmwide Tax resource forecasting and long-range workforce planning across onshore and offshore resources.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of offshore workforce models, efficiency initiatives, leverage strategies, and scalability opportunities.
  • Identify future talent needs and skill gaps, incorporating efficiency, automation, and evolving client demands.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners on hiring strategies, pipeline planning, and onboarding timelines.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Drive process improvement initiatives originating from your own ideas, including designing, planning, executing, and measuring outcomes.
  • Lead or support software and system implementations related to resource management, scheduling, forecasting, or reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate workflows, data integrity, and tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Track and communicate measurable results from process improvements (e.g., utilization, forecasting accuracy, cycle time, team efficiency).

Capacity Management & Performance Oversight

  • Oversee allocation of Tax professionals to optimize utilization, workload balance, and staff development.
  • Resolve complex resourcing conflicts, balancing client needs, business priorities, and talent development.
  • Monitor and report on utilization, leverage mix, scheduling accuracy, and capacity risks, using data-driven insights.


Enterprise Operations & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Bring extensive operational experience, understanding how learning & development, recruiting, finance, and HR intersect with the RM function.
  • Collaborate across Audit leadership, Finance, Talent Development, HR, and Operations to align workforce strategy with financial and business outcomes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of financial statements and the client life cycle—including client intake, acceptance, and billing processes—to inform strategic resource decisions.

People Development & Talent Alignment

  • Partner with HR and Audit leadership to align assignments with individual strengths, development plans, and long-term career goals.
  • Support retention efforts by proactively identifying stretch opportunities and creating meaningful development experiences.
  • Ensure transparency and fairness in staffing decisions, reinforcing trust with professionals and leaders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in resource management, workforce planning, operations, or similar leadership roles, preferably within public accounting or professional services.
  • Prior Tax resource or capacity planning experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proven experience in strategic workforce planning, offshore resource management, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Experience leading or supporting resource management–related software or system implementations.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including understanding of billing, intake, and financial reporting processes.
  • High level of independence, sound judgment, and comfort making complex decisions in a matrixed environment.
  • Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and resource management systems.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and relationship‑building skills.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field
