Job Description

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A commercially minded relationship builder with a deep understanding of the Taft-Hartley market and the ability to establish credibility with trustees, consultants, plan professionals, and internal partners
  • A confident communicator who is comfortable in boardroom settings and can translate complex investment topics into clear, practical language for diverse trustee audiences
  • A disciplined territory manager who can identify opportunities, manage a sales pipeline, prioritize high-value relationships, and consistently follow through across both new business and existing client needs
  • A collaborative teammate who can leverage the broader institutional platform, coordinate internal resources effectively, and bring the right specialists into client and consultant conversations

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business development and client relationship management efforts for Taft-Hartley clients and prospects within the assigned territory
  • Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with trustees, investment committee members, plan professionals, consultants, and other influencers across the Taft-Hartley ecosystem
  • Develop a clear understanding of each plan’s governance structure, decision-making process, consultant relationships, funding status, investment objectives, and service expectations
  • Execute territory sales plans by identifying client needs, prioritizing opportunities, managing the sales pipeline, coordinating internal resources, and delivering value-added investment insights
  • Prepare for and participate in board, trustee, consultant, and investment committee meetings, including presenting investment capabilities, performance updates, market perspectives, and client-specific recommendations
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, prospects, consultants, and internal partners to support relationship continuity, asset retention, and new business development
  • Coordinate client and consultant requests in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring follow-through on reporting, data, meeting materials, due diligence items, and other service needs
  • Partner with internal teams to position investment solutions across public markets, private markets, fixed income, liquidity, and defined contribution offerings where appropriate for Taft-Hartley plans

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of institutional sales, client service, consultant relations, or investment-related experience, preferably with direct exposure to the Taft-Hartley marketplace
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with trustees, investment committees, consultants, plan professionals, and institutional decision-makers
  • Strong understanding of multiemployer plan governance, fiduciary considerations, consultant influence, board dynamics, and trustee communication needs
  • Knowledge of institutional asset management, plan sponsors, consultants, competitors, and investment strategy positioning
  • Understanding of investment instruments and their relevance across defined benefit, defined contribution, liquidity, and other institutional asset pools
  • Ability to translate complex investment concepts, performance results, and market developments into clear, practical language for trustee and committee audiences
  • Collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to listen to other perspectives and proactively share ideas
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams, prioritize competing demands, and maintain consistent follow-through
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a client-first mindset
  • FINRA Series 3, 7, 63, and 65, or ability to obtain required registrations within an agreed-upon timeframe
  • CFA, CAIA, or demonstrated progress toward an investment-related designation preferred

The salary range for this position in New York, NY is $220K - $225K Base/year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location
