Role Overview

The Director of Syndication will lead and expand GAMURS Group’s syndication strategy, ensuring our content reaches the widest and most valuable audiences through strong external partnerships. This leader will strengthen and manage relationships with existing syndication partners, secure new distribution opportunities, and build scalable processes that maximise revenue, brand visibility, and operational efficiency.

The Director of Syndication will oversee the syndication department, create a predictable pipeline of partner demand, and ensure GAMURS’ editorial output is positioned, packaged, and delivered to meet partner expectations. Success in this role will be defined by revenue growth, improved partner satisfaction, increased content distribution volume, and a more structured and strategic syndication function across all GAMURS brands.

Key ResponsibilitiesSyndication Strategy & Partnership Growth
  • Own and evolve GAMURS Group’s syndication strategy across all publishing brands.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing syndication partners, ensuring consistent communication, performance reporting, and long-term value creation.
  • Proactively identify, negotiate, and secure new syndication partnerships across digital media, platforms, aggregators, broadcasters, and other third-party distributors.
  • Build tailored content offerings and packaging strategies aligned with partner needs and platform requirements.
  • Develop a predictable revenue pipeline and identify expansion opportunities in emerging markets and new distribution categories.

Operational Leadership & Department Management

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the syndication department, including content delivery, workflows, partner onboarding, and rights management.
  • Design and implement processes to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely distribution of syndicated content.
  • Partner with Editorial, Product, Data, and Sales to align content supply with partner demand, editorial trends, audience behaviour and ensure cohesive execution.
  • Establish KPIs, scorecards, and reporting dashboards that provide visibility over performance, trends, and growth levers.
  • Work with Finance to forecast revenue, track performance, and improve unit economics for the department.
Commercial & Performance Optimisation
  • Increase syndication revenue through structured negotiation, improved packaging, and expansion of high-value partnerships.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of partner performance metrics and use insights to optimise content types, formats, and delivery volume.
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to improve syndication tools, feeds, and delivery mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with content rights, licensing terms, and partner agreements.
  • Identify and action opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce friction, and scale distribution volume without compromising editorial integrity.
People & Culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop the syndication team, establishing a culture of accountability, speed, and communication.
  • Ensure the team is structured and resourced for growth, supported by clear responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with editorial, legal, data, and commercial teams to ensure aligned execution and shared success.
  • Promote a data-driven approach that values clarity, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Candidate ProfileExperience
  • 5–10+ years in digital media, publishing, content distribution, or related industries.
  • Strong track record managing or growing syndication partnerships with MSN, Newsbreak, Smartnews, Apple News, Yahoo and others
  • Experience negotiating content licensing, distribution, or commercial agreements.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing workflows, CMS platforms, and content delivery systems.
  • Experience leading teams in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Capabilities
  • Strong partner management and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and build trust.
  • Commercially minded operator with strong analytical ability to identify revenue opportunities and optimise processes.
  • Excellent understanding of content performance metrics, digital media trends, and distribution models.
