Company Overview

Upchurch is a rapidly growing, full-service building engineering company providing mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services across the southeastern United States. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Horn Lake, MS, Upchurch has grown through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, establishing a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and service excellence. We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.

Position Summary

The Director of Supply Chain leads the company's enterprise procurement and fleet functions across all lines of business, operating companies, and locations. The role owns the full supply chain strategy: material purchasing and vendor programs, enterprise rebate agreements, equipment and strategic partner programs, and a fleet of 500+ vehicles, and is accountable for consistency in process, pricing, and partner relationships companywide.

The foundation of the function is in place, including centralized purchasing standards, a consolidated enterprise spend baseline, distributor and manufacturer rebate programs, consolidated fuel card and telematics programs, and a multi-year procurement operating plan. The Director's charge is to run that function with discipline while continuing to build on it: scaling processes and systems to keep pace with organic growth and acquisitions, deepening analytics and reporting, and developing the team. The position blends high-level strategy with hands-on execution, working closely with project managers, field teams, general managers, Safety, HR, and Accounting to ensure materials, equipment, and vehicles are sourced efficiently, competitively, and in alignment with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement Oversight

· Own and maintain companywide purchasing standards, processes, and policies.

· Maintain the enterprise spend baseline and analyze spend across all divisions to identify cost savings, rebate opportunities, and vendor consolidation potential.

· Manage all existing rebate programs and their reporting requirements, and develop new rebate opportunities at every level (distributors, manufacturers, and strategic partners) to maximize overall company earnings.

· Partner with Accounting and FP&A to track rebate performance and forecast annual rebate returns.

· Execute and update the multi-year procurement operating plan, including annual savings and rebate targets.

· Support project buyouts and multi-project purchasing strategies to leverage volume pricing and align purchasing decisions across divisions.

· Vendor & Partner Management

· Serve as the primary liaison with key suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers.

· Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and program terms that benefit all company entities.

· Lead regular business reviews with major vendors covering performance, upcoming projects, rebate status, and program alignment.

· Manage national account and strategic partner relationships, including internal branch partnerships, equipment programs, and group purchasing organizations, to ensure consistency in pricing, rebate participation, and service across all divisions.

· Review supplier credit applications and commercial terms from a procurement standpoint, coordinating with the Subcontracts/Legal team as needed.

· Fleet & Asset Management

· Provide strategic oversight of the company fleet (500+ vehicles) through the Fleet Manager, including vehicle acquisition, assignment, utilization, and disposal.

· Own the fleet management, fuel card, and telematics partner relationships and programs, including sourcing, program performance, and cost controls.

· Review the Fleet Forecast with Finance and leadership to align vehicle needs with budget and growth plans.

· Oversee fleet reporting and driver safety scoring, and partner with Safety and HR on driver safety and recognition programs, DOT compliance, and driver training.

· Maintain and enforce fleet policies and procedures.

· Evaluate rent-versus-own and lease-versus-buy decisions for vehicles and equipment to optimize total cost of ownership.

· Process Standardization & Systems Integration

· Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, with clear ownership and accountability from requisition through PO processing, receiving, and coordination with Accounting.

· Define, document, and continuously improve standardized purchasing workflows within BuildOps.

· Work directly with the internal IT team and BuildOps support to enhance PO functions, implement system improvements, and communicate best practices across divisions.

· Oversee vendor setup and vendor management processes, ensuring vendor records and account structures are accurate across all entities.

· Ensure internal teams are trained on requisition and PO procedures to improve accuracy and accountability.

· Standardize fleet data and reporting across systems so that driver and vehicle records have a single source of truth.

· Acquisition Integration & Scaling

· Lead supply chain integration for newly acquired companies, including supplier accounts, pricing and rebate participation, fleet and fuel programs, and migration of purchasing activity onto company systems.

· Incorporate acquired-entity spend into the enterprise spend analysis and savings tracking.

· Scale processes, controls, and reporting so the function keeps pace with growth across multiple operating companies and locations.

· Cross Department Collaboration

· Work directly with operations leadership, project managers, and branch GMs to forecast material and vehicle needs and eliminate duplication of effort.

· Partner with the Safety team to evaluate, standardize, and consolidate purchases related to PPE.

· Communicate clearly with field, dispatch, and accounting teams to ensure smooth material flow and invoice reconciliation.

· Lead change management across departments when introducing new processes, systems, or policies, balancing cost control with operational needs.

· Team Leadership & Development

· Lead, develop, and set priorities for the Fleet Manager, Procurement Analyst, and Procurement Coordinator.

· Develop the procurement organizational structure as the company grows, including staffing needs, reporting relationships, and opportunities for further centralization across operating companies.

· Define roles, responsibilities, and growth paths for the team.

· Performance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

· Maintain and expand a companywide preferred vendor list to improve consistency and efficiency when sourcing materials or services.

· Provide quarterly updates to leadership on cost-savings initiatives, supplier performance, rebate results, and fleet metrics.

· Identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions or policy adjustments.

Core Competencies
