About the Department
The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk is one of the most diverse and collaborative groups within the organization. The Position
This is a hybrid role focused on three critical areas of work - departmental communication, field force alignment and restructure support, and leadership of compliance and audit support.
In terms of communications, this role will be a critical partner to the Vice President, Medical Affairs to develop and lead departmental communication strategy, ensure that the department vision and execution strategy is well communicated and understood by the medical team, ensure execution of communications through all relevant channels - electronic and F2F, plan and execute POA's and national meetings, and provide insight and understanding of departments activities and strategic objectives.
From field force alignment and restructure support standpoint - this role will have full responsibility for design and implementation of the process that drives the field force alignment, territory mapping and targeting across the organization and portfolio - including Diabetes, Obesity, CV, and Managed Markets. incorporating cross functional input from TA heads, field alignment directors and other home office functions. In addition, he/she will be the point for executing major field restructure initiatives with close collaboration with HR, TA heads and field alignment directors.
In terms of compliance the role will liaise with legal to update compliance trainings and SOPs, communicate them to the teams and ensure readiness for field audits. In addition, this role will be supporting SVP CMR on communications strategy and change management for 30% of her/his time.
Relationships
This position reports to the VP of Medical Affairs with a dotted line support to the SVP of CMR.
Additional key internal relationships include:) Medical Affairs Leadership Team, as well as Compliance, Commercial Effectiveness, Legal, Finance, IT, Market Shaping, Human Resources, Medical Information, Clinical Trial Management (CTM) and Global Medical Affairs (GMA). This position will also support the SVP of CMR for CMR wide communication planning and coordination across CMRLT as needed. External relationships include multiple vendors and/or consultants.
Essential Functions

  • Strategic communications
    • Develops an annual strategic communication and engagement plan for the organization based on overall vision, purpose and goals of the organization
    • Aligns the overall strategic communication plan with the MALT
    • Creates a tactical plan to execute on the overall strategic plan and uses multiple channels to communicate the organizations strategy - e.g., medical connect, yammer, emails, SharePoint
    • Organizes and leads POA, annual events and national meetings across MA to further engage MA employees on the organizations purpose and goals
    • Develops communication strategies around important events - i.e., change and growth in the organization, supply issues, D&I etc.
    • Sets direction and provides strategy for sustaining key components of the Novo Nordisk Way while ensuring the culture evolves as the affiliate grows
    • Owns the rewards and recognition process and strategically communicates those to create engagement among employees
  • Field force alignment and restructure
    • This role will act as an internal consultant for design and implementation of the process that drives the field force alignment, territory mapping and targeting across the organization and portfolio - including Diabetes, Obesity, CV, and Managed Markets. incorporating cross functional input from TA heads, field alignment directors and other home office functions
    • This role will be the point for executing major field restructure initiatives with close collaboration with HR, TA heads and field alignment directors
    • This role will assess confidential organizational change information; serves as an advisor by providing leaders counsel on appropriate communications plan including timing, cascade, interactions and messaging in conjunction with organizational changes
    • This role manages KOL Individual Engagement Planning process, monitors metrics to identify trends, and adjust plans to ensure optimization of KOL activities (HCP Rex oversight)
  • Compliance and training
    • Leads the development, updating, training, and reporting on applicable Novo Nordisk policies and procedures for all Medical Affairs. Develops new SOPs as needed to support business
    • Leads generation of reports and oversees departmental information gathering and dissemination for all audits and compliance related activities
    • Responsible for planning and executing training and education of MA team on operational initiatives
  • Supervisory responsibility
    • Based on the needs and demands of the role, this role will have 1-2 fellows reporting into her/him


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor 's Degree required, with an advanced tertiary degree in business, analytics or healthcare preferred
  • A minimum of 12 years ' relevant pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Medical Affairs environment or similar area; home office experience preferred
  • Strong communications and relationship building capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategies and lead team to effectively execute tactical elements of a plan
  • Strong strategic mindset, understanding of market needs and Demonstrated understanding of legal and regulatory environment of pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent computer skills and strong working knowledge of Siebel, Microsoft applications and communications platforms
  • Possess superior communication skills, both oral, written and presentation, and ability to engender trust and respect of peers and superiors
  • Proven track record of strong teamwork, innovation, and project management
  • Strong understanding of the industry and prior experience in sales, marketing and/or consulting activities preferred
  • The ability to communicate with key Thought Leaders, Medical Affairs, Research and Development, as well as other key internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to develop a relevant strategy and oversee the implementation of that strategy
