As the Director of Software Engineering, you will build and lead a team of talented engineers to drive the development of complex software solutions to deliver on our digital app and active device product roadmaps. Your proven track record in organizing team growth, strategic thinking, technical expertise and passion for driving innovation will help delight Loop’s future customers.
The Director of Software will use their deep expertise in software development practices and a deep and broad technical understanding of cloud, ML and embedded systems software to build and lead a world-class software team. You will stay abreast of rapid technological advancements, develop scalable, high-performance and high-quality software solutions, optimize resources and budgets and build and execute technology and platform software roadmaps. Our global team will require occasional travel for collaboration and team setup.
What You’ll Do:
- Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of software engineers across app, cloud and embedded disciplines.
- Technical Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive software engineering strategy, and software technology and platform roadmaps, aligned with Loop's strategic goals and product roadmap, ensuring the voice of the customer is at the forefront.
- Software Development: Oversee the end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of app software, cloud-based services and embedded software for Loop devices. Establish and enforce quality standards for engineering processes, ensuring all software meets or exceeds industry benchmarks.
- Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team, encouraging experimentation and exploration of new technologies.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, hardware engineering, Operations, consumer insights, and customer support, to deliver high-quality products and services.
- Performance: Monitor and optimize software performance, reliability, and scalability to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Security: Champion the security and privacy of user data and systems, adhering to the highest industry standards.
- Recruitment: Attract, recruit, and retain top engineering talent to build a world-class engineering organization.
- Operational Excellence: Manage departmental resources effectively, including budget, personnel, and equipment, to optimize efficiency and output.
How You’ll Do It:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (Masters preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 6 years in a leadership position.
- Demonstrated experience in both cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and embedded software development.
- Experience with audio processing, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and other relevant technologies.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Experience in the consumer electronics audio industry preferred
- Understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques (applied to audio preferred)
- Track record of delivering successful products to market with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Loop takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, experience, skill sets, qualifications, education, and other business and organizational needs. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise. Please note the range listed is just one component of the Company’s total rewards package.
Base Salary Range
$172,500—$230,000 USD
