As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Consumer and Community Banking Team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
Job responsibilities
Engage with business stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement under your guidance.
Deliver and own end-to-end cutting-edge low latency solutions leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices
Champion engineering practices; Improve the effectiveness of the Engineering teams through coaching, mentoring and resolution of impediments
Partner with leadership team for driving Non Functional Requirements, Modernization initiatives and controls
Sets direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation within a technical area to drive measurable improvements in speed, quality, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-orchestrated delivery workflows, release readiness controls, automated test modernization, and incident triage acceleration), while establishing guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse across teams.
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives at scale.
Lead and participate in regular technical meetings, ensuring that architectural decisions align with the broader organizational goals and strategy.
Partner with product and business groups, to drive participation, plans, timelines, dependencies and solutions to ensure successful delivery leading to desired outcomes
Drive the adoption of AWS cloud technologies, enablement tools and processes for our engineering teams, as a part of integration
Create and maintain detailed technology roadmaps with corresponding work streams and stakeholders, ensuring all solutions and requirements are clearly understood and communicated
Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
Extensive hands-on experience in designing and building full stack cloud native distributed systems with high degree of availability, fault-tolerance & scalability using Java Spring.
Experience in handling large volume of data with Databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle is critical for the role.
Curious and comfortable with exploring new domains with the ability to consider both the technology & product angle
Ability to deal with direction changing quickly, and ability to learn and establish patterns quickly
Understanding and experience with cloud technologies, software engineering/product engineering methods, technology best practices.
Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) across teams, including defining operating expectations (human-in-the-loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, resiliency/security implications, and governance; ability to influence leaders on safe scaling patterns and reuse.
Understand and convey programming models, technologies, systems and API’s that are relevant for stakeholders
Work with product teams regularly to ensure understanding and alignment of requirements and technical solutions

Participate and/or lead opportunities with third parties, working to understand why and how we may integrate and leverage their capabilities
